Fall is my favorite time of year, especially for enjoying weekend getaways. Since I’ve been living in a city for over ten years, I really love getting out of town and enjoying the fall foliage.
I haven’t had a chance yet to discover many more weekend getaways from Chicago so please share your favorite spots. And hopefully I’ll check them out one day and then share my experience with you.
But one of my favorite day trips, just outside of Washington, D.C. is the Great Falls, which can be accessed from Virginia or Maryland, but I have only seen from the Maryland side. And during the fall, I love taking pictures of all the gorgeous colors.
None of the activities are stroller friendly and I recommend baby wearing. You might be able to manage with a jogging stroller that can handle unpaved trails. My favorite hike in the area is the Billy Goat trail, which is not good with babies or toddlers. To take this trail, you have to scale some rocks and that could be dangerous while baby wearing. There are plenty of other easy options if you decide to go for a walk while baby wearing.
Have fun and don’t forget to share your photos!
