The French Grand Canyon (Gorges du Verdon)

I’d never heard of this hidden beauty until my husband surprised me and drove me there one day (while we were vacationing in the South of France). The river that runs through this grand canyon, the Verdon River, is a stunning turquoise color.

Keep in mind that during the summer months, this canyon gets filled with tourists enjoying the views, kayaking, or rock climbing. I love visiting the South of France just before (June) or after (September) the busy season. And if you’re going to be in the South of France, it’s worth trying to make a stop in the Gorges du Verdon.

Enjoy the drive and views by stopping in a nearby villages for lunch. And give yourself plenty of time to stop at all the overlooks for lots of photo opportunities. Here’s a perfect example of me having a blast with my son during a photoshoot:
