17 Mile Drive (Northern California)

This week I’ve been day dreaming about Northern California. The 17-mile drive is located on the Monterey Peninsula or almost a two hour drive, with no traffic, South of the San Francisco International Airport. This wonderful winding road is a destination on its own.

You will not need to make reservations, but you will need to bring cash (and a camera). It costs about $10 per car to drive along the coast line to Pebble Beach or Carmel. There are multiple entry points and you will be able to collect a map highlighting the points of interest.

Even though the road is always open, I recommending spending about 3 hours of daylight to take plenty pictures and enjoy the view. The scenery is incredible!

I suggest starting or ending your drive with a lovely lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants of the Pebble Beach Resort, especially if you love golf. Here you will have a delicious meal with a view!
