Babyshower Gift Idea

Even if you already have a kid and know what worked well for you and your family, it’s difficult to select the ultimate baby shower gift for someone else. And products are always changing. For example, The Fisher Price Rock ‘N Play was one of the best baby shower gifts we received (and used); however, the product was recalled in 2019.

My first recommendation is to give the parents-to-be something from their registry. They have probably done a lot of research and figured out what they really want. If they don’t have a registry or they don’t have many options left on the registry, a gift basket is always a good idea. You can even incorporate a few items from the registry.

Recently I gifted a basket with a theme: middle-of-the-night survival kit. First I selected items from the registry (sleep sack, pacifiers, and diapers) and then I added a few other items that I loved while breastfeeding in the middle of the night (magazines, snacks, and water bottle). And I added some other basics, such as my favorite onesies (organic Gerber). You never know when your baby will leak through their diaper and need to be completely changed in the middle of the night.

Of course I also have to recommend Sophie the Giraffe (Sophie la Girafe). I always gift a Sophie The Giraffe because I’m a francophile. Most kids in France own a Sophie the Giraffe, where the toy is made. I’m trying to spread the popularity here in the States, one baby at a time.

The toy was created in 1961 in France to sooth teething babies. She is made from 100% natural rubber and is BPA and phthalate-free. Sophie has recently gotten some bad press; however, if you properly follow the cleaning guidelines there should be no issues.
